Visa payWave makes shopping at M&M Meat Shops even more convenient

Visa's contactless technology offers convenience and the security benefits of chip card technology

Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) announced today in Canada that M&M Meat Shops has joined a growing roster of Visa payWave™ contactless payment enabled merchants. Contactless payments allow consumers to simply “wave and go” when making every day transactions like purchasing any of hundreds of meal ideas at M&M Meat Shops.

Visa payWave delivers speed and convenience to participating merchants and Visa® cardholders while offering the security benefits of chip technology. More than 470 participating M&M Meat Shops across Canada will be equipped with Visa payWave enabled terminals this summer.

“Visa’s global experience has shown that contactless payments are quicker than cash for smaller purchases,” said Mike Bradley, Head of Products, Visa Canada. “Visa payWave cards will make popping into M&M Meat Shops to grab dinner more convenient.”

“Creating a memorable shopping experience that enables customers to get in and out of the store quickly is the cornerstone of the outstanding service M&M Meat Shops provides to Canadians from coast to coast,” says Gary Decatur, M&M Meat Shops President and C.O.O. “We are thrilled to partner with Visa to make it even easier and more convenient for Canadians to purchase their favourite M&M Meat Shops meals.”

Using Visa payWave cards, Visa cardholders will be able to purchase high quality frozen foods at participating locations by simply waving the card at a contactless terminal.

“We’re thrilled that Canada’s largest specialty frozen food retailer is offering the convenience of Visa payWave to cardholders,” continued Bradley.

The deployment of Visa payWave-enabled Visa cards and point-of-sale terminals is closely aligned with Visa’s migration to chip card technology in Canada. Visa employs a layered approach to its fraud prevention efforts, including technology on the card itself as well as on Visa’s processing network to help heighten security efforts.
