Running a publishing company is one of the most challenging choices an entrepreneur can make. There are never-ending deadlines to meet, multiple tasks to complete and numerous clients to please. "The publishing industry certainly is fast-paced and very challenging, but I wouldn't want it any other way," says entrepreneur Yanouk Poirier.
Yanouk is President of Speed Magazine (www.speedmag.ca) based in Montréal, Québec. He leads a busy life, coordinating the efforts of 44 team members and building his multi-faceted business.
Up and running for three years now, 15,000 copies of Speed Magazine are published every three months for young professionals between the ages 25 and 45. The magazine helps its readers to achieve success through its helpful articles, inspirational stories and listings of networking events.
"I got into this business because I saw a need in the marketplace," recalls Yanouk. "There was nothing like this publication in Montreal, so I decided to create my own magazine to help young professionals connect."
Like many self-employed people, Yanouk says he loves being an entrepreneur because he can realize his passion. "I feel very fortunate to be able to transform my dreams into reality," he comments. "There is nothing more rewarding than being able to build your own company and see it all come together."
To help him achieve his business dream, Yanouk acquired his Visa® Desjardins Business card two years ago. The card comes with a line of credit, making it very easy for Yanouk to keep his business cash flowing.
Designed to meet the needs of businesses, the Visa Desjardins Business card allows Yanouk to streamline financial management and save time.
"There are a lot of expenditures in the publishing business," says Yanouk. "I use my card for large purchases and to entertain clients. It also gives me peace of mind knowing I can access extra money whenever I need it."
An experienced business owner, Yanouk says he chose the Visa Desjardins Business card because of its low rates and excellent service advantages. "I also have a great Account Manager at Desjardins in Montreal who really understands my business," he adds.
An expert in developing media products, Yanouk says his future plans include launching a TV show and a daily radio feature to augment his successful magazine. "Our next step is to spin Speed Magazine into other electronic media," he explains. "It's part of my long-term vision for my growing small business."
