While she can't actually print money, small business owner Sara Young is working hard to earn it from Canada's print industry.

Young is the President of Youngblood Publishing Ltd., a growing small business that compiles and distributes news and information about Canada's most innovative printing companies.

Youngblood's flagship product is called PrintAction (www.printaction.com), Canada's only monthly graphic communications magazine. With 11,000 readers in the print and graphic arts industry, it features articles on the latest print and design innovations, new products and lots of hot-off-the-press news.

Youngblood also publishes the PrintAction Buyer's Guide, a detailed listing of all service providers in the Canadian printing industry, a second magazine called FlexoAction, and organizes several print industry conferences including the annual PrintAction Environmental Printing Awards.

Sara was attracted to the print industry because it offered great income potential. "It's the third largest industry in Canada with over 120,000 employees", she comments. Publishing also gives her a chance to work with creative people in advertising, design and print. "I really enjoy working with my creative team to publish our magazines and guides and to organize conferences."

Originally started by her father, John A. Young, Sara has carefully grown her Toronto-based company to employ nine people and serve over 600 advertising clients.

Sara made a great decision two years ago when she signed up for a ScotiaLine for businessVisa® card. "Like many business owners, I'm very busy," she says. "I do all of my banking at Scotiabank because their website [www.Scotiabank.com] is fast and easy to use."

Sara says she chose a Visa Business card because it allows her to carry a balance. "It gives me more options when managing cash flow," she explains.

To keep cash flowing in, Youngblood Publishing also accepts Visa® card payments from its many customers. "We accept credit card payments from our magazine advertisers and our monthly magazine subscribers," comments Sara. "By accepting Visa cards, we have shortened our receivables schedule, boosted liquidity and lowered staff costs because we don't need a huge accounting department."

She says she loves being a small business owner because it allows her to see the fruits of her labour. "A small business can make decisions quickly and move on them," she explains. "You just can't do that in a big business layered with bureaucracy."
