Tap off* with the same Visa card or payment-enabled mobile or wearable device on a PRESTO device when you arrive at your destination.
Yes, the pricing to pay with your Visa card is the same as it would be if you were paying with a PRESTO card for a PRESTO Adult Fare price. Customers will only get the loyalty discount ‘multi-ride’ discounts if the same Visa card is used for all trips and is tapped on when riding and tapped of at your destination. Get more information on GO transit fares.
Yes, when taking GO Transit, make sure to use the same method of payment to tap on and off for a trip. If you use a Visa card to tap on, you cannot tap off with a mobile wallet, even if your mobile wallet is connected to the same card you used to tap on. If you do use a different payment method to tap off, it will be recognized as the start of a new trip.
If you tap off with a different card than the one you use to tap on, the PRESTO device will read that as you tapping on again with a different card and you will be charged another fare.
If you tap the wrong card for a fare inspection, you may receive a fine for not paying your fare. When approached by a fare inspector, make sure to tap the payment method you used when you first boarded.
If you forget to tap off, at the end of the day your card will be charged a fare for the longest trip on the transit system you used. To avoid paying a higher fare, make sure you always tap off at the end of your trip with the same contactless payment method you used to tap on with.

No. You cannot set a Default Trip using your Visa card currently. You must tap off on a Presto Device with the same Visa card or payment-enabled mobile or wearable device you used to Tap on.
Each person travelling will need to use a separate Visa card or payment-enabled mobile or wearable device to tap on and off for their trip.
This is sometimes called “Card Clash.” Cardholders should be advised to always choose one Visa card or payment-enabled mobile or wearable device and separate that from other forms of contactless payment before tapping it on a PRESTO device, so you know which card is being charged for the ride.
Cardholders using their Visa card or payment-enabled mobile or wearable device to pay for their GO Transit trips will see a single charge per day that accumulates all transit journeys for that day into a single payment.
If you’ve tapped with a Visa card you can view your transaction history on the PRESTO website or app. If you’ve tapped recently, it can take up to the end of the day for that trip to appear in your transaction history. When viewing your credit card history on your bank account, your charges may take a few days to appear, and multiple trips may be combined into one or more charges.
There are two ways to sign in using your Visa card:
PRESTO Account: Create a PRESTO account and then register their credit card to the account to access 180 days worth of history.
Anonymous: You’ll need to enter your credit card identification each time you sign in to see the last 7 days of your credit transaction history.
To reverse (cancel) a Visa card payment tap on a GO Transit fare payment device, press the “mode” button on the device screen. Continue pressing the button until you see “reverse fare," then tap your Visa card or payment-enabled mobile or wearable device. The device will display a green check symbol and a message, “Request for reversal recorded.” The reversal request is sent to the PRESTO back-end system for processing.
A reversal must be completed at the same GO station as your initial tap on within 45 minutes.
